We are a well established building company set up in
1969 by Brian Huntly.
In 1988 Brian unfortunately passed away and his son-in-law who worked for
him inherited the business. Soon after it was agreed that CAW Associates and
Brian Huntly Builders would amalgamate and form Brian Huntly Builders Ltd.
The Brian Huntly name was retained out of respect and we have gone from
strength to strength since that time building up an extensive list of clientele,
many of which we have worked for numerous times.
We are a traditional building company able to tackle any project large or
small, new or old, listed or in conservation areas. We specialise in
extensions, refurbishments, decorations, listed building renovations, conservatories,
patios, drives and footpaths, We have a full complement of tradesmen and
an extensive relationship with specialist sub-contractors built up over 25 years.
Whatever the problem or requirements we have the knowledge and expertise to put
forward cost effective solutions.
We chose Brian Huntly Builders for our refurbishment and extension based on two
factors: the price quoted and recommendations from two other local residents they
had done similar work for. The recommendations centred on the quality of the work
undertaken and the excellence of Huntly’s project management skills.
Our experience accorded with the recommendations we received. The project was
conducted efficiently and communication was excellent, we were kept informed
regularly of what was, or would be, happening. Quality control was strict. We
are extremely happy with the work and it has attracted favourable, unsolicited comment.

This is the second project for which we have employed Brian Huntly, the first
being an extension on our previous house. It was a relatively complex job on a
sloping site involving non-standard building technologies including an integrated
solar thermal and photovoltaic roof, sealed construction with mechanically ventilated
heat recovery, large areas of polished concrete floors, integrated balcony with
full-width opening glazed wall, oak-lined winding staircase, and so on.
The job required demolition of a bungalow and significant excavation to provide
a bottom floor with retaining walls set back into the hill, with two further
timber-framed and slate and cedar clad floors above.
Brian Huntley completed this job to the highest standard which has been
remarked upon by our many visitors, many of them knowledgeable about construction.
We have now lived here for six months, everything works and snagging items to
date have been trivial.
Above all, they are pleasant, responsive and reliable people to work with,
and indeed live with, as we moved in some time before completion.

We have worked with Brian Huntly Builders on a recent project in Prince Edwards
Road, Lewes. The nature of the project was to create a new build low energy
dwelling incorporating renewable energy, airtight construction and mechanical
ventilation with heat recovery technology. Brian Huntly Builders were able to
achieve 3 air changes per hour, a reflection of the care and attention paid to
the implementation of air tightness membranes and tapes. The building was
constructed using retainin~ elements built into the ground, a timber frame
structure above and steel supports for the large 1st floor balcony.
The project included an integrated PV tile, solar thermal tile and rooflight
system. Brian HuntlyBuilders went out of their way to collect and install the
Swiss roofing system, which was one of the first of its kind to be implemented in the UK.
I would have no. hesitation in recommending them for future projects.
